NAE/CASEE Faculty Fellow Program

Description

Each year FIE invites new engineering and computer science faculty to submit applications for possible selection as New Faculty Fellows. A review panel of engineering and computer science faculty from assistant, associate, and full professorship levels completes a rigorous peer-review of each applicant’s conference paper; nomination letters and professional resumé. The fellowship provides a $1,000 grant for conference travel expenses.

The purpose of the program is to promote the involvement of new faculty in the Frontiers in Education Conference so they will be exposed to the “latest and greatest” in engineering educational practices and will have the opportunity to exchange information with leaders in education innovations.

The fellowships have been sponsored by the Sloan Foundation (1997), the National Science Foundation (1998), the FIE sponsoring societies (1999, 2000), the Lemelson New Education Assistance Program (2001), Verizon Corporation (2002), Microsoft Corporation (2003), and the National Academy of Engineering Center for the Advancement of Scholarship on Engineering Education (NAE CASEE) in 2005 and 2006. FIE 2007 is pleased to welcome back the National Academy of Engineering Center for the Advancement of Scholarship on Engineering Education (NAE CASEE) as the sponsor for 2007.

New engineering and computer science faculty members are encouraged to join us in Milwaukee to share ideas, learn about new developments in engineering and computer science education, and interact with colleagues. This year FIE 2007 will provide 9 registration and travel grants for awardees to attend the conference and one workshop.

Focus on NAE CASEE New Faculty Fellows

Each fellow will present a conference paper during FIE 2007. Join them in their session and share your thoughts and ideas about the future of engineering education. The fellows will also be recognized at the FIE Awards function and also, be sure to visit the fellows and view their posters during the Thursday Focus on Exhibits session following the luncheon and learn more about their teaching and research. The Fellows will have posters describing their interests and activities and preview their full papers that they will present as part of the FIE 2007 technical sessions.
