Problems with feedback? No email from us?

If you do not receive an email notification from us for any of the various feedback phases, note that this may be a problem with your email server interpreting FIE email as spam. You may check the status of your paper by clicking here and entering the paper number. If you have an alternative email address, please send that to fie@fie.engrng.pitt.edu.

One solution is to teach your email program that any email you get from fie@fie.engrng.pitt.edu should not be sent to the trash folder.

Author Resource Guide: How to list references

Copyright Information

An IEEE copyright form should accompany your final submission. You can get an electronic copy in doc form here:

IEEE copyright form in doc format.

Your paper cannot be published as a part of the FIE Proceedings without the signed copyright form. If you have more than one paper in the conference, you must submit a form for each paper.

Steps to follow to submit the copyright form

  • Download the IEEE copyright form in doc format
  • On the top of the form replace the red text "Put your paper number here" with your paper number.
  • Enter the title of your Full paper, WIP, Panel, Special Session or Workshop in the next section. Replace the red text "Use this space to cut and paste the title of your paper. " with your paper title. The best method is to just copy the title from your paper and paste it onto the copyright form.
  • Enter the list of author names for your Full paper, WIP, Panel, Special Session or Workshop in the next section. Replace the red text "Use this space to list all the authors of the paper. " with the author names. We just need the names not the universities. If you are submitting this form for a Panel, Special Session, or Workshop, enter the names of all the speakers. The best method is to just copy the names from your paper and paste it onto the copyright form.
  • Sign the form. Only one author needs to sign the form. There are three options for where to sign the form. If you are not sure where to sign the form use the first option. This will be correct for 95% of the papers.
  • Submit your signed copyright form to:

        Dan Budny
        University of Pittsburgh,
        School of Engineering,
        323 Benedum Hall,
        Pittsburgh, PA 15261.

  • Another method of submission would be to enter an electronic signature in the form and then make a pdf file and email the pdf file to
        Dan Budny, budny@pitt.edu

  • If you are an international author and can not make a pdf file, then instead of mailing the form you can fax the form. Warning, my office is under construction as we expand our building. Thus, I will be moving around the building during the constraction and the fax machine might not work, or the fax might get lost in the building. Thus, use the fax option as the last choice.
        Dan Budny
        University of Pittsburgh,

  • You will be notified when the copyright form arrives.
