Conference registration includes admission to all technical sessions; admittance to the exhibit hall; daily continental breakfasts; refreshment breaks; lunches on Thursday, Friday and Saturday; Thursday evening reception at the Racing Museum and Hall of Fame; a program book of abstracts; and one copy of the conference proceedings on CD-ROM.

There is an additional fee to attend the Friday evening Awards Banquet.

Registrations received without payment will not be accepted. Advance fees apply through Wednesday, October 1, 2008. Registrations received after October 1, 2008 may not be acknowledged by mail and may be processed on site.

Students are required to show a valid student ID card or letter from the university confirming full-time student status at the time of registration.

(Please note: Guaranteed room rate and reservation cut-off date for The Saratoga Hotel and Conference Center is Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern time. The cut-off date for the over-flow hotel, The Courtyard by Marriott is Wednesday, October 1, 2008. Please see the FIE08 website listing for complete hotel information.)

The University of Kansas Continuing Education (KUCE), as the logistics manager of the conference, has the following policies:

Workshop Registration

On Wednesday October 22 there are 12 pre-conference workshops. Information on the workshops can be found on the Workshop web page.

Registration for individual workshops is required, and each carries a nominal fee with a discount for multiple registrations. Cost of one workshop is $50.00. For two workshops, you receive a $10 discount off of the cost of two workshops (total cost for 2 workshops is $90); for three, a $30 discount (so the cost of three workshops is $120). If you wish to attend a workshop, please check the desired workshop on the registration form.

Student Registration

Students can not register online. We need a copy of your valid student ID card, or a letter from you university confirming full-time student status before you can be registered for the conference at the student rate. You can mail or fax a copy of the registration form, with a copy of your valid student ID card or letter to the address listed on the registration form.

VISA Letters

Visa letters will only be issued to:

  1. Speakers/Presenters
  2. Committee Members
  3. Attendees who have paid their registration fee in full and are not from one of the countries embargoed by the U.S. Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (Cuba, Iran, Libya, and Sudan).

Privacy Policy

KU Continuing Education does not share, sell, or rent its mailing lists. You have our assurance that any information you provide will be held in confidence by KU Continuing Education.

We occasionally use mailing lists that we have leased. If you receive unwanted communication from KUCE, it is because your name appears on a list we have acquired from another source. Inthis case, please accept our apologies.

Refund & Cancellation Policy

A full refund of registration fees, less a $50 processing fee, will be available if requested in writing and received by October 15, 2008. No refunds will be made after that date.

A $30 fee also will be charged for returned checks. (Please note that if you fail to cancel by the deadline and do not attend, you are still responsible for payment.) If the conference is canceled, the liability of FIE2008 and The University of Kansas is limited to the registration fee. KU Continuing Education reserves the right to cancel the conference and return all fees in the event of insufficient registration. The liability of the University of Kansas and FIE2008 is limited to the registration fee. The University of Kansas and FIE2008 will not be responsible for any losses incurred by registrants, including but not limited to airline cancellation charges or hotel deposits.

One author from each paper must register for the conference even if no author attends or presents the paper, in order for the paper to appear in the proceedings.
